We accept funding applications for up to £800 from school music teachers, employed by a school and delivering the national curriculum, to fund certain short courses to enhance their teaching. Each application must be accompanied by a letter of endorsement from the headteacher outlining the benefits of you undertaking the course. Please note, we cannot fund tuition fees/private tutors/Peri teachers.

If you are interested in applying for support, please email umuksoundfoundation@umusic.com with a link to the course (including the cost) and details of your current job and we will let you know if it’s something we could potentially fund.

If you are also applying for your school under the ‘UMUKSF School Funding’ application, please let us know when you send us your course information and do not submit any applications until we have replied to you.

Our funding schedule is as follows (please note this is a guideline only, exact dates will be provided on our website):

  • Applications will open in April for funding offers made in September
  • Applications will open in August for funding offers made at the end of January
  • Applications will open in December for funding offers made at the end of April

Important Information

  • Universal Music UK Sound Foundation has limited funds available to provide grants to support the education of the public, and in particular young people, in all aspects of music. This means the Foundation cannot guarantee to award funding to every eligible application received.  Representatives of the Foundation review each eligible application to determine which applications the Foundation can and should award funding to.
  • We receive a huge number of applications per round, and funding offers are made based on the specific, detailed, and personal information provided relating back to what you want to buy and why. We recognise that AI tools can be useful in completing an application and therefore it’s not prohibited. However, we advise you to keep in mind that using AI tools can result in generic or inaccurate information and hinder your application. Please take care over your submission. Do make sure that the responses in the application form you submit are accurate and explain your personal situation.
  • We do not offer funding retrospectively and we will not be able to fund courses that begin before funding offers are made.

The next application deadline is 10am on the 17th June 2026.
