Michelle Emmerson
Michelle is the CEO and Founder of Blue Monday Limited, a Company which focuses on People Advisory, Search & Recruitment and Outsourced HR Support. Michelle is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a Companion of the Chartered Institute of Management.
Having started her early career at EMI Music UK & Ireland. After 7 years in different Finance roles, she moved into Human Resources. Having completed a degree in Human Resource Management she enjoyed twelve years in HR at EMI, eight of these at Board level as Group HR Director, UK & Ireland and later with a broader remit as SVP, HR. Her clear focus was on Executive Development and People Management resulting in the organisation achieving The Times Top 100 Companies accolade.
In 2008, Michelle moved to BBC Worldwide as Group HR Director and developed their international commercial businesses through people, establishing offices around the world, managing all people aspects of M&A and divestments, developing local management teams, policies, reward strategies and performance management. Michelle was also responsible of Health and Safety, Risk Management, Facilities and Communications.
After 2.5 years at BBC Worldwide Michelle continued her career to ASOS.com where she was Group Services and People Director. This was a full operations role with responsibility for People, Customer, Studios and Production, Facilities and Business Transformation. ASOS.com doubled in size, opened offices in five countries and won ICS awards for customer service above Amazon and John Lewis during her tenure.
Working as an independent Executive Coach over the last 10 years, through her own business Blue Monday Ltd , and as a Non-Executive Director, Michelle has helped CEO’s and organisations evolve their strategies, drive change, enable teams to work more effectively together and manage people to achieve group success.
Michelle became CEO of Walpole in October 2013. Walpole is a unique association of c.250 British luxury brands and associates. Walpole works to promote, protect, inspire and develop the British luxury industry. This was part time role until January 2017 which sat alongside her work for other clients. This role focussed heavily on events, public affairs, PR and commercial sponsorship.
Over the past few years Michelle has worked closely with the BRIT School and BIMM to support change and is a current NED at LIPA, so she has a good understanding of the challenges faced in education. She is also a passionate supporter of young talent and recognised the importance of music education and creative undustries.
With experience across Music, TV, Publishing, Education, Ecommerce, Retail and the Luxury sector, Michelle is well placed to advise businesses and leadership teams on strategies for change, digitalistation, customer experience, brand partnerships, executive development and people.

Michelle has 3 children Sam, Holly and Charlie and she lives on the Norfolk Broads but is based and works in London Monday to Friday.
